Aparna’s Musings on Life – Series 7 – Inner Transformation

Maybe you recently went through a bad phase in your life or going through a really tough time in your life. Maybe you are surrounded by negativity, feeling frustrated waiting for an interview call or a new project. This is just for you, lets begin our search within us.

I know you would have heard lot of people tell you to be positive and feel confident. We can easily be positive and confident when everything goes as we like and everything is good. We feel life is great, life is beautiful. We feel motivated, inspired to achieve our dreams.

Do you feel positive when you are struggling to make ends meet?

Are you positive while waiting for an interview after losing a job?

Are you positive when waiting for that rare promotion?

Do you feel positive when waiting for a new project?

How positive are you when you are waiting for that big break in your career?

You want something to happen, you start being hopeful when you take the initial steps. You feel motivated and work for it. Then after a short time when situation isn’t favourable you struggle to feel positive. Then comes the big wait making you anxious or tensed or upset by fear of failure, to top it all comes our dear covid 19 situation.

You feel your confidence wither, negativity consumes you and your thoughts. You feel stuck, frustrated with so much negative happenings in your life. These are the moments that break us or at times break our heart. There might be days you feel you have reached your breaking point and cant take this any longer. When such feelings go on for a long period of time, it might break you, might bring you down to your knees crying, feel despair, angry and sad.

All of us go through such moments or situations in life. But how do we deal with it defines our inner peace and equilibrium. We are not saints not to feel low, angry, frustrated or stressed due to situations. There are good days and bad days for all of us. Despite everything one thing that helps us to sail through is some HOPE.

Because with hope comes strong belief. Why is our beliefs important? Because our belief system is our ideology and values which we hold high in our life. This belief system is the invisible force behind our behaviour. We accumulate thousands of beliefs throughout our lifetime about all aspects of life. We get them through our interactions and experiences with others and life in general which influence us.

A change in one belief can disrupt and transform our entire belief system as our beliefs are interconnected with one another like the domino effect. That’s the beauty of our belief system.

The Law of Atttraction states “My thoughts create my reality. I get what I focus on. That which I focus on is what I attract towards myself. ”

ü  You need to strongly believe that ‘You can do it’. Believing in one self can set the mind in motion to find a way to do it.

ü  Find a inner spark that sets you in the right direction.

ü  Pay attention to your thoughts. Many of us have a scarcity mindset. It is the belief that there will never be enough, resulting in fear, stress and anxiety. On the other hand, an abundance mindset flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. It’s grounded in the belief that there is more than enough for everyone.

ü  An abundance mindset can help us relieve our fears and anxieties in these uncertain times. When we feel secure and confident about what we already have (whether that’s enough food, or enough knowledge), we’re channeling an abundance mindset.

ü  Focusing on what we have with gratitude naturally shifts our mindset to abundance mindset. Gratitude is all about having appreciation for the good things in your life, or the lessons you learned along the way, which helps you cultivate an abundance mindset.

When we feel like things aren’t going our way, it’s easy to get caught up in a scarcity mindset. “I can’t believe this is happening to me,” “I’ll never get ahead,” “I’ll probably lose my job over this.” Whenever you catch yourself going in a negative spiral of thoughts, think about a lesson you could learn from the situation.

Ask yourself questions like:

  • Is there another perspective you can take?
  • Did a mistake at work lead to a negative performance review?
  •  Did your friend finally get his dream job and you feel a little jealous?
  • Did you choose to stay in your comfort zone instead of asking for the salary you deserve?
  • What lesson is here for you? How can you use this situation to grow and develop? Finding the lesson in these situations helps you shift to an abundance mindset and see more possibilities available to you.

Believe that you are worthy and you deserve an abundant life. Many of us struggle with a lack of self-worth. Stories from our past lead us to believe that we’re not good enough or smart enough or pretty enough to get what we want. Or, that what we want is stupid, ridiculous, or never going to happen.

When you feel negative, it’s easy to believe that you don’t have enough education, or you need one more certification before you can apply for the job or get the promotion or find your purpose. It’s easy to believe that you won’t get the salary you deserve or that you don’t deserve to pursue your life purpose. Shifting your thoughts to believe that you are inherently worthy will help you develop an abundance mindset.

Believe that you are worthy! You deserve to have anything you want in the world. All of us have the potential to achieve greatness. Not many of us believe we are worthy of greatness and abundance.

Once you believe yourself everyday and forgive yourself for the mistakes you made in the past. Forgive those who insulted or had hurt you – not just one day but everyday until the pain in your heart goes away. Count your blessings everyday and be grateful for them every single day.

A day will come when you decide not to remain a caterpillar anymore. That’s when you cocoon your mind and heart to think only positive and in abundance. When the time is right you transform into a butterfly with strong wings that can fly high.

The transformation could burn you but you still rise majestically from the ashes like a phoenix!! Wishing you most and more!!

Signing off,

Aparna Subramanian
